Event Details

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. economy was in a record-long period of expansion. Even in the midst of this Goldilocks economy, most arts and cultural organizations operated with minimal working capital. As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, having access to flexible savings became critical to organizations navigating the ever-changing economic landscape.

In their most recent white paper, Buffering Against Uncertainty: Working Capital and the Resiliency of BIPOC-Serving Organizations, authors Rebecca Thomas, Principal at Rebecca Thomas and Associates, and Zannie Voss, Director of SMU DataArts, examine working capital levels of nonprofit arts and cultural organizations across the nation prior to the COVID-19 pandemic with particular emphasis on organizations primarily serving Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. Join Ms. Thomas and Dr. Voss as they discuss BIPOC-Serving organizations' resiliency and challenges, and provide guidance for cultural organizations that seek to cultivate healthy working capital post-pandemic and grantmakers who are looking to invest in the recovery and rebuilding efforts of their grantees.

This webinar is listed in Eastern Daylight Time. Closed captioning will be available during the presentation.
